Motor vehicle accidents: Roadways are becoming hazardous

Roadways across the state of South Carolina are more dangerous than ever before. Higher traffic volumes mean highways are constantly congested, especially in popular vacation spots along the coast. Every year, thousands of people visit South Carolina because it is one of the most beautiful states in the country. However, the sudden influx of visitors also makes this state one of the most treacherous in which to drive. The number of motor vehicle accidents has risen dramatically in recent years.

A recent crash in Myrtle Beach injured one driver and tragically claimed the life of a young woman. Reports indicate that the accident happened during the late afternoon hours on Carolina Forest Boulevard. According to police, a Chevrolet SUV was traveling east, crossed the center line of the road and collided with a Jeep Cherokee.

Reports say the driver of the Jeep was injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Chevrolet was also rushed to the hospital, but authorities said she later died from her injuries. Reportedly, she was only 19 years old. Officers said the accident is still being investigated, but both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

This incident is an example of the dangers that face drivers on South Carolina roadways these days. Fatal motor vehicle accidents are happening more and more across the state. Families who have suffered the loss of a loved one due to negligence in an accident could benefit from discussions with an experienced lawyer. Damages awarded from a successful lawsuit could provide financial relief for families facing medical and end-of-life expenses.
