Motor vehicle accidents are increasing across South Carolina

As traffic increases across the state of South Carolina, getting behind the wheel of an automobile and taking a short drive is an activity that can be fraught with risk. Motor vehicle accidents are on the rise across the state. Any accident that results in injuries or death can be extremely traumatic for all those involved.

A recent crash in Darlington County claimed the life of a woman from a neighboring state. The accident involved two vehicles and occurred at a popular intersection. According to accident reports, the driver of an SUV was traveling north when the driver of a Honda sedan attempted to make a left turn onto the highway.

A South Carolina Highway Patrol officer said the Honda pulled into the path of the SUV, causing a collision. Reports say the driver of the GMC was transported to a local hospital with injuries. A witness who was one of the first people to arrive at the crash site detailed a terrifying scene and said the driver of the Honda had to be cut out of the vehicle. Unfortunately, the driver of the Honda died on the scene, police said.

As more and more vehicles share roadways across the state, the number of accidents are only going to increase. Tragically, a higher percentage of these car crashes are resulting in serious or fatal injuries. Those in South Carolina who are injured in an accident due to the negligence of another may be able to take legal action. A successful lawsuit could result in compensation to help with the trauma associated with serious motor vehicle accidents.
