Fatal motor vehicle accidents remain high in South Carolina

Its no secret that people are flocking to South Carolina to take advantage of the great climate and wonderful opportunities across the state. Currently, there are almost four million licensed drivers here. This number continues to climb year after year, which means roadways are more crowded than ever before. With so many vehicles sharing the roadways, motor vehicle accidents will inevitably happen. Tragically, a shocking number of these accidents have proven to be fatal so far in 2018.

The Department of Public Safety recently reviewed the number of fatalities on South Carolina roadways so far in 2018. According to their research, 220 people have died this year on highways across the state. They say that 84 of those killed were not wearing seat belts.

Just recently, a 26-year-old died in a tragic accident on Interstate 20. Reports say that the accident involved multiple vehicles near Exit 65. According to authorities, this accident also led to other crashes in the area.

Some people think that poor road conditions across the state are to blame for the high number of accidents. Tragically, fatalities in motor vehicle accidents continue to remain high again this year in South Carolina, which is statistically one of the most dangerous states in which to drive. Those that have been injured or lost loved ones in motor vehicle accidents may be able to pursue legal action. A successful lawsuit could provide compensation to help with the pain and suffering associated with these accidents. An experienced personal injury attorney can help assess a potential claim and provide support and guidance throughout the claims process.
