Motor vehicle accidents may lead to fatalities

Car crashes can happen within seconds and result in injuries for those involved. Many different factors can contribute to motor vehicle accidents, such as distracted driving or bad weather conditions. Several people were injured and one was killed in a recent South Carolina collision.

Few details of the crash have been released at this time. Authorities stated that, for reasons that have yet to be determined, a driver traveling westbound lost control of the vehicle. This led to that car hitting the center median and crossing into the opposite lanes. The car then struck three other vehicles.

Tragically, the driver of one of the three vehicles hit died at the scene. Two passengers in the same vehicle were also injured, one of whom was a juvenile. Police report that the two other drivers and another juvenile also suffered injuries. Officials have yet to reveal whether the driver believed to be responsible will face any charges.

Dealing with the aftermath of a car crash can be emotionally and financially difficult for victims and their families. To help cope with the financial aspect, victims may be entitled to file personal injury claims in civil court against any party or parties believed to be responsible. Similarly, surviving families of deceased victims could file wrongful death claims on behalf of their loved ones. When successfully litigated, these claims can provide monetary damages that can be used to help pay for medical bills, funeral costs or any other related expenses. Any victims of motor vehicle accidents or their surviving families who are interested in learning more could consult experienced South Carolina attorneys for more information.
