Motor vehicle accidents may involve private driveways

A car accident sadly took the life of one person in South Carolina recently, whereas two other people were injured in the wreck. The crash occurred along South Carolina 901. These types of motor vehicle accidents may occur due to the carelessness of a driver, in which case the negligent driver may be held financially responsible for injuries and deaths resulting from such a collision.

The recent accident occurred at about 1:20 p.m. beyond city limits. The car accident involved three automobiles. According to police, an individual was entering the highway from a private driveway. This individual was trying to make a turn toward the south and was suddenly struck by a truck that was towing a trailer.

The two motorists ended up losing control of their automobiles. Apparently, they breached the road's middle line and hit a third motorist operating a car. The truck driver and the third motorist suffered no injuries. Meanwhile, the first car driver died at the crash scene, and two passengers suffered injuries in the collision and were taken to the hospital by helicopter. Authorities continued to investigate the collision.

If the police investigation reveals that the first car driver caused the accident by failing to yield to oncoming traffic, the two injured passengers may opt to file personal injury claims, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. Although the first driver ended up dying in the accident, personal injury suits may still be filed against his or her estate as well as anyone else with an ownership interest in the car that was pulling out of the driveway. A successfully fought suit may lead to monetary damages that may help with covering medical costs and other expenses tied to these types of motor vehicle accidents in South Carolina.
